Acts1:11, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Jesus Christ is coming back again.

Verse 11 gives us a picture of the church. It shows our posture, position and practice.

Jesus is coming back swift, sure and soon.

We don’t need to be caught gazing but instead need to be preparing for Christ’s return.

Verse 11 reveals the problem in the church. Verse 11 shows how the church is lazy, lethargic and liable.

There are many who are lost. There are many who are perishing. We don’t need to be gazing up into Heaven but going out and gossiping the Gospel.

We tend to be lazy in doing evangelism; the thing that matters most.

It should break our hearts that we care more about things that don’t matter than about things that do matter.

God has put us here to be a light… to be an influence on our community.

Verse 11 contains a promise to the church. Verse 11 teaches that the coming of Jesus is sure, sudden and soon.

When the Lord returns will we think of what we have done or will we think of what we have not done?
